Starting A Business: Group Project (Computer Lab)

During the week, students work in groups of 6 to 7 students to complete this capstone project.  Students act as entrepreneurs where they will start their own company and create a product or service marketed primarily to teenagers.  Thus, they will:

*Choose their company name, logo, and mission statement
*Choose company officers from among themselves
    *Select outside auditors
*Create marketing strategies and  a jingle
*Prepare financial statements (Balance Sheet; Income Statement)

The Computer Lab has been reserved for specific days and times.

Students receive templates to facilitate their brainstorming, deep discussions, and group presentations.  Group presentations will be judged by a panel of business professionals consisting primarily of representatives from ACAP's Corporate Partners. The winning group gets to present their project at the Closing Luncheon on Friday before an audience of approximately 300 people.  Each member of the winning group receives $50.

Business professionals with knowledge of accounting and finance will help guide the students in their thinking and to hear mock group presentations prior to the final presentations on Thursday night.

Parents are encouraged to attend this event.
