I have a BBA in Finance. I've found that simply having a degree has opened up many doors for me. Employers look at degreed candidates differently. They feel the pursuit and completion of a degree means a person had the discipline to invest in themselves and complete a personal goal. Even though I have a degree in Finance, most of of my experience is in training and development. The fact that I'm certified in Mager Methodology, SLII, and Trainer Talk gives me more legitamacy as a candidate. It also lets potential employers and clients feel that I'm so dedicated to my craft that I've taken the extra steps to educate myself and get certified in areas of Adult Learning and curriculum development.
