Skills Accountants Need...

Group Project

The Group Project is the capstone project for the week; thus students are assigned to Project Groups prior to check-in.  Each group will act as Accounting/Finance Consultants and decide what type of business they are in (e.g., public accounting firm, consulting, firm, corporation, small business, governmental agency, academia, or non-profit) and what services they provide (e.g., audit, tax, advisory, internal audit, bookkeeping, accounting education, financial services, forensics, etc.). See documents below for ACAP 2019; ACAP 2020 documents will be subsituted at a later date.

Methods of Instruction

During this week-long residency camp, students will experience various instructional methodologies:  facilitated classroom discussion, group work, self-directed learning, collaborative learning (sharing experiences, listening to peer students, working together to find answers), etc.  Attempts are made to appeal to a variety of learning styles:  visual, auditory, and tactical.  In addition, students are expected to use their computer lab time wisely.

Executive Director Rights

The Executive Director reserves the right to modify the Course Syllabus at any time during the week of the residency camp.  The ACAP Student is responsible for contacting the Executive Director or his/her assigned Counselor to clarify any information pertaining to the syllabus that is unclear to the student.

Expectations of Students

ACAP students are expected to:

*Submit:    All assignments by the due date.  All assignments are important.  Any "small" activity (point-wise) in favor of a large activity (point-wise).
*Read:    Assigned work in the curriculum as well as other articles and materials.
*Respond:   To all messages from ACAP Administrators in a timely manner.
*Participate: In class discussions and other methods of instruction.
